We're all about the young people being front and center. They're the face and purpose of our work! That being said, we know that they can't do it alone and that's where the mantra "Youth-Led, Adult Guided" comes into play! Our coordinators work alongside the youth staff year-round, but when it comes to larger events such as Y2Y Camps, we rely on adult volunteers to help us create a safe and fun environment, that's where you come in!

"BEING AN ADULT VOLUNTEER WITH SUMMIT COUNTY Y2Y IS VERY REWARDING! I LOOK FORWARD TO ALL THE EVENTS AND THE COORDINATORS MAKE SURE I KNOW I'M APPRECIATED AS A VOLUNTEER"
-CURRENT ADULT STAFF MEMBER
Our adult volunteers fill many roles, primarily in the camp environment. We utilize adult volunteers to co-facilitate small groups we call "family groups", present workshops, oversee activities, monitor sleeping dorms, logistical responsibilities (taking attendance, setup and breakdown, etc.) and the dreaded "other duties as assigned". Our goal, however, is that volunteering with Summit County Y2Y is a rewarding experience for you, the youth staff and the participants you're working with. We want you to be the good guy or gal, the adult that these young people look up to and see as someone they aspire to be. Young people engaging with adults who don't make unhealthy decisions and set a positive example is not always something that they're used to, you could provide a life-changing moment!

"I LOVE TO VOLUNTEER BUT IF I HAD TO PICK JUST ONE ORGANIZATION SUMMIT COUNTY Y2Y WOULD BE IT. THE YOUNG PEOPLE IN THIS PROGRAM INSPIRE AND RENEW ME EVERY TIME I GET TO WORK WITH THEM, THIS IS SOMETHING EVERYONE SHOULD DO"
-CURRENT ADULT STAFF MEMBER
We're excited to have you! It's pretty simple, really. Just reach out to us by clicking here and let us know you're looking to come on as a volunteer or would like more information. One of our coordinators will get back to you to discuss the opportunity more and the next steps for on-boarding with our agency.
Full Disclosure: For everyone's safety, all adult volunteers are required to complete annual fingerprinting and background checks (CHC Addiction Services performs these services at no cost to you). Adult staff are also required to agree to the Summit County Y2Y Adult Code of Conduct. Your coordinator will discuss this code of conduct with you and answer any questions you may have. The safety of our participants is something we take very seriously and we expect our volunteers to as well. |
Summit County Youth to Youth is a service of CHC Addiction Services with support from the Summit County ADM Board. |
